Manu (Buffer Zone)

Hello, my friends how are you doing?...
This would be the first post, showing my experiences in the field, when going to Manu.

Family: CAPRIMULGIDAE (NIGHTJARS)
Species: Lyre-tailed Nightjar (Uropsalis lyra), female.
Date taken: September 07, 2011 at 15:25 hrs.
Location: Manu road between Pillahuata and San Pedro, Cusco, Peru

Note very prominent rufous collar, the male is the one that shows an incredible long tail, maybe in the next adventures I'll be able to get one good picture of it, when flying.

These are nocturnal birds I have seen other species of this family mainly feeding on moths.

Today September 22, starts the Spring in the austral hemisphere of the world.

Tomorrow the 23rd, I will be leaving to Manu, in search of new adventures.

Have a good birding day my friends...
